Character Design - Death's Daughter

One time my friend asked me to draw Death (Grim Reaper), but to design it so it was unique. I really couldn't think of anything. Then the other day I was doodling and cam up with this blonde, black eyed girl. I deemed her Death's daughter. She's young with her hair in pigtails and her toys wrapped around her scythe like charms.

Sketch Comic Page - Camille and Kristen

A drawing of Camille and Kristen I was sketching. Then I thought of it being a comic page so I put in word bubbles. Of course I didn't want to actually fill in the work bubbles with actual conversation. I had fun because it's sketched out in an orange ballpoint pen then corrected in a nice black ballpoint pen.
I figured here Camille wasn't enjoying the shopping trip whereas Kristen just found the exact thing she couldn't do without. So in the end it was prosperous.

Mixed Media Storyboard

A collaged storyboard I did featuring Camille. It's part of the storyline where Camille finds a poor, beaten werewolf mother that's close to death. She gives Camille her infant boy to save and Camille decides to adopt the boy for her own after saving him.

Character Designs - Banshee Story

I recently started a new story this semester. I was inspired from reading many strong female lead books like The Mercy Thompson series, skin walkers, and Stray, werecats. This story is about banshees.
The main character is Emer, a banshee warrior. She's not very strong, but she's fast and her voice is haunting and enchanting. She goes to college and is in her fifth year majoring in journalism. She had to repeat classes because she was always called back home for a job.
Her roommate, Jessica, is her best friend and the only person that knows about her family secret. She helps on jobs from time to time.
Her only brother and sibling, Conall, is five years older than her and they're pretty close. He's also a banshee, but he's more of a warrior. His voice is enchanting, but not as much as his sister's.
Conall and Emer have nicknames to fit in more. Conall is called Conner in public and Emer is called Emma.

Character Design - The Chrysler

Very weak character design of the creature called the Chrysler. It's name is still unknown to me and the images for this came to me instead of a story being developed. The basic idea is there are handlers to these Chryslers and they all have battles. This one is a runt that no one wants. A handler named Nikki doesn't want to handle anymore, but this accident happens and the runt saves her. Then she finds out he's going to be put down so she decides to be his handler.

These were the sketches from last semester of Nikki.

Character Sketch it Out - Camille Moretti

Camille is the main character from Touched by Fate, that book I never finished. Now I'm debating on whether or not to finish it or continue with this new story I was doing. Anyways, it's hard for me to forget about Camille because she's been in my head since middle school, was written down in high school, and drawn in college. She's been with me most of my life. The hardest thing about her is how the symbols/power tattoos should look on her body. So these are some quick sketches of her I did in my sketchbook. I'm still deciding on the symbols.

Re-Designed Character Sketches - Rhodes and Seldom

I decided to redraw Rhodes and Seldom from Bloodline in my current style. I like how they turned out and I will definitely draw more of them. Sketches of Stryde and Johnny are coming soon.

Character Design - Kiri

This is Kiri. I came up with her during the first couple of times of going to the Texas Renaissance Faire. I came across one of the stores selling a "Juliette" gown that was light purple and also saw a booth that sold horns. An idea came into my head about a slave unicorn. I wanted to get the outfit together because my friend had a barbarian outfit and I wanted her to act as the captor.

All the outfit ideas I was going through transformed her into a character. I didn't come up with her name until recently, Kiri. Kiri in my mind is a "The Last Unicorn" type of unicorn only in the way that she looks like a pale human with a unicorn horn, tail, and hooves.

She's capture from her homeland by a barbarian capture (the beginnings of his character sketch is next to her on the bottom sketch). She's held in a cell to be sold off as a slave. She finds a little baby dragon abandoned and takes care of him. (Her background history is still being decided.)

2009 - 2011 Chracter Design Sketches from "Touched by Fate"

Touched by Fate is a story/book I came up with in high school. I started to write it and got up to ten chapters before I stopped before college. I never actually drew the characters until college.
It's a fantasy/supernatural book with vampires, demons, fairies, angels, werewolves, etc. I never continued writing because I didn't like the feel of the storyline anymore, but didn't know how to change it. One of the problems I came along was the main character, Camille. She became the "mix breed", the one and only of her kind. Long story short her family line was mixed so much that all the creature lines exploded in her and made her the most powerful creature in the world. Thing was, she was too powerful. I can't have her all bloody and beaten from a lost battle if she's too powerful. So most of the sketches here of her and of other characters in the story. I don't know if I'll actually pick up the story again and rewrite it or not.

So the drawing above is an outline of a costume design for Camille. It's her fae robes that she wears for meetings. The drawing below is a quick storyboard of her meeting with the human president of the U.S.

This drawing is of Camille and Skyler. Skyler is one of her friends from cross country and he's a grade above her. He treats her like his little sister and throughout the book the revert into Spanish to talk to each other and call each other brother and sister and when they introduce themselves.

Camille in a fighting stance with a katana and in one of her weird outfits. She frequents in weird outfits, outfits depending on her mood for the day. Usually I have her fighting with twin daggers/swords.

Above are sketches with the idea of some of the characters in mind.
Above are sketches of Camille's friends. Camille gets turned into the "mix breed" by an ancient passing down power since no mix breed can live on long enough to carry on their mission (although Camille is the only one that actually tries to carry on the mission). These friends decide to help her and take on powers from Camille and that make them into creatures. Hikaru (bottom left) is her exchange friend from Japan. They were in cross country together but arrives at the end of the book, accepting Camille for who she is. Hikaru takes on the form of a Wind Demon. Rick (bottom right) is also a friend from cross country and the same grade level as Skyler. He hits on any female with two legs and always gets shot down. He takes on the form of an Earth Giant. Skyler (top right) was mentioned above. He takes on the form of a Water Siren. Kirsten Edwards (top left) is Camille's best friend. They are like twins they are so close. Kirsten like sto mention how she is Yang (the good luck, good, light, etc) and Camille is Yin (the bad luck, bad, dark, etc.) and together they cancel each other out. She takes on three forms, three to be opposite Camille's three forms. Kirsten is Angel, Elf, then Veela in ascending order of strength and power. (whereas Camille is Demon, Vampire, then Werewolf in similar order).
A quick sketch of Kirsten and an angel wing.

Book cover ideas

More book cover ideas. The reason for keeping Camille hidden is because she's the first female mix breed. She also ends up being the most powerful and almost immortal. No one knows she's the mix breed so she has to keep her identity a secret, like a super hero. (Needless to say, Camille gets tired of this and reveals who she is at the end of the book. There are suppose to be several books in this series).

2009-2011 Bloodline Design

These were a few sketches I had done from 2009-2011 as continuing character desing for the Bloodline comic. Mainly I worked on Rhodes and tried to sketch out a simple possible cover.
